Project title:
Polyoxometalates containing Mn / Hf / V / W / Mo transition metals; from parametrization of computational protocols toward the design of new artificial enzymes
Competition type: NCN OPUS 28
Financing institution: NCN
Project description:
The main goal of this research project is to develop state-of-the-art computational tools able to rationally design and computationally study new polyoxometalates in the long range quest to develop new artificial enzymes. Polyoxometalates are frequently found as building blocks in metal organic frameworks (MOFs), that are able to mimic reactivity of biological enzymes and perform important catalytic reactions. The central part of this project consists of the design of new parametrizations for a series of transition metal-oxo clusters that will allow to perform high-throughput molecular docking and long-timescale molecular dynamics simulations of cluster binding to proteins.
Key responsibilities include:
development of new parametrizations for a series of Mn / Hf / V polyoxometalates
design and modelling of new MOFs and POMs
analysis of the obtained data
active participation in lab meetings, scientific seminars and international conferences
participation in the data preparation and writing of manuscripts
Profile of candidates/requirements:
The competition is open for persons who meet the conditions specified in the regulations for awarding NCN Scholarships for NCN-funded research projects (OPUS 28 grant).
The candidate should be enrolled as a student of first cycle studies, second cycle studies or uniform Master’s studies conducted in a higher education institution on the territory of Poland, in chemistry or related discipline.
good knowledge of mechanism of organic reactions
good command of English
strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as excellent communication skills
an opportunity to participate in a multidisciplinary project in one of the best scientific institutions in Poland
