Are you an experienced technology leader who combines strong people management skills with a deep understanding of modern software delivery?We are looking for a Director of Software Development to lead a multidisciplinary engineering organisation and drive the evolution of products, processes, and technology strategy.Responsibilities Lead and develop a multi-team software organisation comprising Software Development, QA, and Support functions. Manage and mentor engineering managers, ensuring effective goal setting, performance management, and talent development. Own engineering budgets, including workforce planning, vendor management, and procurement approvals. Build and maintain transparent career development and compensation frameworks that support employee growth and retention. Drive software delivery governance across multiple products and customers, ensuring predictable and high-quality releases. Oversee release management, change control processes, versioning strategies, and cross-product delivery planning. Establish and optimise processes from requirements gathering and RFC management through to successful delivery. Manage product portfolio priorities, balancing business needs, customer expectations, and engineering capacity. Provide technical leadership around software architecture, cloud operations, reliability, security, and engineering excellence. Lead technology modernisation initiatives, including cloud transformation, platform upgrades, and architecture evolution. Ensure compliance with software security standards and industry best practices.Requirements Min. 10 + years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years managing managers within a complex engineering organisation. Strong track record of coaching and developing leaders and building high-performing teams. Experience owning engineering budgets, headcount planning, and vendor spend management. Demonstrated success in developing compensation and career progression frameworks. Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. Working knowledge of Polish and English. Extensive experience in release and change management within complex software environments. Strong understanding of change-control processes, release governance, versioning policies, and software delivery frameworks. Experience managing end-to-end processes from requirements and RFCs through successful delivery. Ability to oversee multiple products, roadmaps, and competing priorities simultaneously. Strong understanding of modern SDLC practices, including CI/CD, code reviews, automated testing, engineering metrics, and observability. Experience with cloud-native and SaaS environments (preferably Java/AWS stack). Knowledge of high-availability architectures, disaster recovery planning, SLA management, incident response, and reliability engineering.
