Senior Database Developer

Description

We are looking for a Senior Database Developer to join a large-scale modernization initiative focused on SQL Server to Aurora PostgreSQL migration in a cloud-native environment. You will work on transforming and optimizing complex enterprise database solutions using AI-driven modernization approaches and automation tools. Responsibilities Migrate SQL Server database schemas to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, ensuring structural consistency, accurate data type mapping and proper handling of dependencies Convert stored procedures, functions, triggers and views from T-SQL to PL/pgSQL, addressing syntax and behavioral differences between the two systems Update application database interactions by adapting queries and the data access layer for seamless integration with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL Use automation and AI-driven tools to accelerate migration, review generated results and refine outputs to ensure high quality Apply AWS migration and modernization solutions to support schema conversion, data migration and code updates Deploy migrated schemas, application code and data to non-production environments, with settings, security and connectivity configured according to best practices Validate migrated database objects and application integration by testing functionality, data integrity, performance and stability Requirements Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views and complex queries Advanced to expert knowledge of PostgreSQL Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL Proficiency with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) Solid background in cross-platform database schema migration, especially from SQL Server to PostgreSQL Experience in database modernization testing, including compile validation, functional testing and performance benchmarking Nice to have Experience with AWS Transform for.NET / SQL Server, including AI-driven migration workflows, validation and output refinement Familiarity with GenAI-assisted migration tools Experience with AWS Aurora configuration (parameter groups, replication, high availability, Performance Insights) Experience with Amazon CloudWatch for database monitoring and alerting Intermediate proficiency in Python for scripts and automation of migration tasks Experience with CI/CD processes for database deployments Familiarity with Kiro for AI-assisted code refinement workflows

Requirements

• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views and complex queries

• Advanced to expert knowledge of PostgreSQL

• Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL

• Proficiency with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)
