Main functions
Manage and maintain Windows Server environments across physical and virtual platforms.
Build, upgrade, patch, and decommission servers in line with lifecycle and security standards.
Support virtualization platforms and clustered server environments.
Administer file servers, shared storage, and NTFS / Active Directory permissions.
Participate in planned maintenance windows and out‑of‑hours changes where required.
Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server environments (production, UAT, and development).
Create and configure SQL databases to support business application requirements.
Perform SQL Server patching, upgrades, and version alignment.
Support SQL clustering, high availability, and migration activities.
Troubleshoot database‑related performance and connectivity issues.
Support business‑critical applications hosted on Windows and SQL platforms.
Work with vendors to support application upgrades, fixes, and platform improvements.
Apply operating system and application security patches and remediate vulnerabilities.
Implement and maintain server hardening and security best practices.
Support certificate management and renewal processes.
Implement least‑privilege access models using Active Directory groups.
Assist with file share security remediation and reduction of over‑permissioned access.
Work with Security and Network teams to support secure access, proxy, and inspection solutions.
Ensure systems meet audit, compliance, and organisational security requirements
Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate server, SQL, and administrative tasks.
Automate routine activities such as patching checks, archiving, and maintenance tasks.
Improve operational efficiency through scripting and process optimisation.
Act as an escalation point for infrastructure and application‑related incidents.
Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative fixes.
Work closely with Infrastructure, Network, Cloud, Security, and Service Desk teams.
Provide support to business teams including Engineering, Operations and Finance, across new projects and existing IT solutions / applications.
Engage with third‑party vendors and support partners.
Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and change records.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and infrastructure standardisation.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
4+ years of experience in a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role.
Strong experience administering Windows Server environments.
Proven experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments.
Solid understanding of server patching, vulnerability management, and system lifecycle management.
Experience with Active Directory, permissions, and access control.
Experience supporting, administering, and maintaining DFS-N and SMB services across the enterprise.
Familiarity with virtualization, clustering, and high‑availability concepts.
Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration.
Experience supporting business‑critical applications and working with vendors.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and support live production systems.
Experience working in hybrid (on‑premises and cloud‑integrated) environments.
Familiarity with certificate management automation.
Experience with enterprise MFT solutions.
Exposure to security or proxy platforms (e.g. SSL inspection solutions)
Experience with enterprise ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.Relevant certifications (Microsoft, SQL Server, ITIL, VMware) preferred.
Experience identifying opportunities to improve internal workflows through AI‑based automation.
Desirable
