Senior Platform Engineer (API & Gateway - Data & AI Platform)

Description

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design and build the API and Gateway layer that unifies our Data & AI Platform, transforming a fragmented service landscape into one coherent, secure, and observable product. Responsibilities Design and build APIs and SDKs on top of distributed platform services using Python/FastAPI Define REST/async API design standards, versioning strategies, and contract testing practices Develop client libraries that provide consistent, reliable access to platform services Architect and maintain a gateway layer that fronts platform services and removes direct fragmented access Establish orchestration and routing patterns that converge independent services into one cohesive product Implement RBAC/ABAC least-privilege authorization models at the gateway level Manage identity and token flows, including managed/workload identity and delegation, to keep downstream services simple Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions with a test-first delivery approach Produce clear service contracts and documentation to support platform adoption Integrate services across Azure and GCP, leveraging private endpoints for secure service-to-service communication Implement observability practices using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, and Grafana to ensure end-to-end visibility Use metrics, traces, and logs to debug and tune performance in production environments Requirements 5+ years of experience in platform or software engineering, with expert-level proficiency in Python Hands-on experience building APIs and SDKs on top of distributed services, including client libraries Proficiency in FastAPI, REST/async design, API versioning, and contract testing Expertise in designing gateway architectures, including orchestration, API integration, and consistent routing Knowledge of IAM concepts including RBAC/ABAC least-privilege models, managed/workload identity, and token delegation flows Hands-on experience with Azure and GCP, including private endpoints and multi-cloud service-to-service integration Skills in CI/CD and automation using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions Familiarity with observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, and Grafana Ability to translate a fragmented service landscape into one coherent, unified product English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in platform or software engineering, with expert-level proficiency in Python

• Hands-on experience building APIs and SDKs on top of distributed services, including client libraries

• Proficiency in FastAPI, REST/async design, API versioning, and contract testing

• Expertise in designing gateway architectures, including orchestration, API integration, and consistent routing

• Knowledge of IAM concepts including RBAC/ABAC least-privilege models, managed/workload identity, and token delegation flows

• Hands-on experience with Azure and GCP, including private endpoints and multi-cloud service-to-service integration

• Skills in CI/CD and automation using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
