Senior Python Developer

Description

We are seeking a Senior Python Developer to join a hands-on delivery team working on an existing design and backlog, contributing directly to production backend development in a distributed, cross-functional environment alongside US-based stakeholders and EPAM peers. Responsibilities Develop and maintain production-grade backend services using Python Design and implement REST or gRPC-style APIs, ensuring contract and proto compatibility across service evolutions Work with relational databases, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization Collaborate closely with the technical lead and EPAM engineers through pair programming and asynchronous communication Overlap with US time zones to support real-time collaboration with stakeholders Contribute to shared scope delivery within an existing backlog rather than discovery or consulting work Participate in mentoring and strong pairing practices with team members on the stream Requirements 5+ years of experience in production Python backend development Experience with API and service design, including REST or gRPC, contract definition, and proto evolution Skills in SQL and relational data management, including Google Cloud Spanner or equivalent transferable technologies, schema reasoning, and migrations Advanced communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate with US stakeholders in a distributed team setting Flexibility to overlap working hours with US time zones Nice to have Familiarity with AI Agents Development, including tools such as Orca, ADK, or Gemini Recent hands-on experience demonstrating current Python proficiency Capability to mentor and pair closely with engineers on shared project scope

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in production Python backend development

• Experience with API and service design, including REST or gRPC, contract definition, and proto evolution

• Skills in SQL and relational data management, including Google Cloud Spanner or equivalent transferable technologies, schema reasoning, and migrations

• Advanced communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate with US stakeholders in a distributed team setting

• Flexibility to overlap working hours with US time zones
