About the requirements. You need:

  • At least 5 years of commercial experience in data engineering, database development, or similar data-focused roles.

  • Experience in a tech lead or technical leadership position, with a track record of taking ownership of data architectures.

  • Proven, hands-on expertise in executing large-scale data migrations and navigating the constraints of legacy systems.

  • Strong command of English (C1 level) for daily, direct collaboration with international stakeholders.

  • Solid understanding of database performance tuning, data modeling, and relational design paradigms.

About the role. You will:

  • Lead the technical strategy and delivery of a complex data migration project for a international enterprise client, working during standard Polish business hours.

  • Act as the primary technical authority, bridging the gap between business stakeholders and engineering teams.

  • Design and oversee end-to-end data migration strategies, ensuring transition from legacy systems to target environments.

  • Take full technical ownership of ETL pipeline architecture, orchestration, and scheduling strategies.

  • Drive DataOps and CI/CD practices to ensure automated and secure data delivery.

  • Mentor and guide a team of data engineers in Poland, ensuring code quality and adherence to migration best practices.

About the skills and tools. You will use:

  • Azure Data Factory (ADF) as the core engine for implementing complex ETL pipelines.

  • Azure SQL Database as the primary target cloud database, with other supplementary ones e.g. PostgreSQL, SQL Server.

  • Other data processing engines like Databricks.

  • Azure ecosystem services supporting the data platform, primarily ADLS Gen2, Key Vault, Azure Functions and Azure Entra ID.

  • Advanced T-SQL and standard SQL for complex querying, stored procedures, and data transformation.

  • Azure DevOps for repository management, CI/CD pipelines.

  • Advanced frameworks for data migration, focusing on data extraction, transformation, validation, and integration with legacy systems.
