What you’ll need for this role
12 – 15 years of experience as a Technical Architect with hands-on ownership of enterprise-scale cloud data platform design from concept through to production.
Strong cloud architecture expertise on GCP and AWS — with deep practical knowledge of at least one. GCP experience (BigQuery, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, GCS, Dataproc, VPC Service Controls, IAM, Dataplex) is a strong advantage.
Demonstrable experience designing and implementing data lakehouse architecture using medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) with a focus on progressive data quality, immutability, and dimensional modelling.
Experience with batch and streaming data architectures — Kafka, event-driven ingestion, EMB/messaging systems, and how these feed into cloud data platforms.
Solid understanding of data governance — access control frameworks, IAM/RBAC, PII encryption, data classification, audit logging, and compliance-driven design (GDPR, FCA, or equivalent regulatory context).
Experience designing and documenting cloud integration patterns — REST API, MFT, event streaming, cross-cloud (AWS↔GCP) — including security considerations such as Workload Identity Federation, VPC perimeters, and JWT-based service-to-service authentication.
Track record of producing architecture artefacts that go through formal review and approval — HLDs, reference architectures, ADRs, or equivalent — and getting them ratified by senior technical and business stakeholders.
Ability to evaluate multiple architectural options, articulate trade-offs clearly, and make and document well-reasoned decisions under ambiguity.
Knowledge of dimensional data modelling, canonical data models, and schema registry (AVRO) in the context of enterprise data platforms.
