Qualifications for the role
University degree in electrical, electronics, automation, power engineering mechanical engineering or related discipline
Minimum 3 years of experience in numerical simulations (e.g. Ansys Fluent, StarCCM+, OpenFoam, Ansys Maxwell, CST): steady state/transient, laminar/turbulent flow, natural/mixed/forced convection; ability to simulate large assemblies
Experience in 3D CAD modeling: solid and surface modeling (e.g. SpaceClaim, Discovery, SolidWorks, Creo)
Fundamentals of electric and magnetic fields, heat transfer and fluid dynamics – ability to perform hand calculations for basic technical concepts
Good command of English and strong communication skills
Knowledge in electrical engineering (necessary to understand ABB product specifications and design requirements) – Preferred
Experience in any of the following areas (not obligatory, but advantageous): creating subroutines (User Defined Functions); Python, C++; code development and maintenance; applying Machine Learning to address key challenges in simulation processes - Beneficial
You will be mainly accountable for
Cooperation with international design teams on development and optimization of new ABB electrification products like switchgears, apparatus, electronics and others
Carry out electromagnetics and thermal simulations based on 2D/3D CAD. models on large and complex assemblies
Document simulation results and propose design improvements to optimize product performance
Create and improve simulation tools and methodologies
