Senior Full Stack Engineer (Java with Python)

Description

EPAM is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer (Java with Python) to join a high-impact engineering team delivering enterprise-grade backend solutions for a major global client in the financial services industry. You will contribute to the development and evolution of a cloud-native platform supporting critical business functions, working with modern technologies across Azure cloud, containerized microservices, and AI-assisted development practices. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who thrives in complex, large-scale environments and is passionate about writing clean, scalable, and resilient code. This role requires working from the office 3 times a week. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Python within a cloud-native ecosystem Build and evolve RESTful APIs, web services, and message-driven architectures Develop and manage containerized applications deployed on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical solutions aligned with business requirements Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to enhance productivity and code quality Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives Ensure reliability, performance, and security of backend services in a production environment Contribute to engineering best practices across the team and the broader delivery organization Requirements 7+ years of professional software development experience in enterprise environments Strong object-oriented programming skills with Java 11+ Strong Python programming skills Extensive hands-on experience with the Spring Boot / Spring ecosystem Proven experience developing Web and/or REST APIs and message-driven services Experience building and running containerized applications Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including: Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform Kubernetes (AKS) and container orchestration Compute (VMs) and storage solutions (e.g., Azure Files) Solid Linux/Unix skills (shell scripting, system-level understanding) Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) integrated into daily workflows Proficiency with GitLab / GitHub and modern IDEs (IntelliJ / VSCode) Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Experience working in Agile teams (Scrum) Fluent English (written and spoken) Nice to have Experience with microservices architecture and system design at scale Familiarity with messaging and integration technologies: Kafka, IBM MQ, Tibco EMS Experience with relational databases: Azure SQL, Oracle, Sybase Proficiency with testing frameworks (unit, integration, and E2E testing) Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab / GitHub) Knowledge of monitoring and observability practices and tooling

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience in enterprise environments

• Strong object-oriented programming skills with Java 11+

• Strong Python programming skills

• Extensive hands-on experience with the Spring Boot / Spring ecosystem

• Proven experience developing Web and/or REST APIs and message-driven services

• Experience building and running containerized applications

• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including:

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
