Chiral Economical Solutions for Printable Polymer Materials in Electronics,
Optoelectronics, and Spintronics (CHERMES)
FNP programme: FirstTEAM FENG nr. FENG.02.02-IP.05-0055/24.
Project description:
The project will develop a low-cost, scalable pathway to chiral polymer layers for next-generation displays, ultrafast electro-optic modulators, and spintronics. Instead of expensive helicenes, we will use accessible sources of chirality, modified for improved conjugation. The materials will be studied (CPL, ECD, VCD), prepared for printing, and tested in prototype devices.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting synthesis and purification of polycyclic organic compounds.
Planning experiments, optimizing procedures, and troubleshooting laboratory issues.
Characterization of materials: NMR, MS, IR, UV–Vis, photoluminescence;
chiral studies (ECD/VCD/CPL).
Preparing thin films and performing basic functional tests.
Analyzing data from various sources, drawing conclusions, and testing hypotheses.
Documenting results, preparing reports and presentations.
Collaborating with national and international partners; participating in project meetings.
Contributing to publications/manuscripts and conference materials.
